Quite the counterfactual game

Normally, I don't give a damn about the Super Bowl.  I quietly acknowledge it, ask my dad (the only football fan in my house) who he's rooting for, and then read about the winners on Yahoo later that day.  This year was different.

counterfactual
\ koun-ter-FAK-choo-uhl \  , noun;
1. a conditional statement the first clause of which expresses something contrary to fact, as “If I had known.”

Given that I have been to actual football games this year and live in a community with people who actually watch and care about football, I decided things needed to change.  For those of you who don't follow American sports (including you Americans out there) the game today was the San Francisco 49ers against the Baltimore Ravens.  I, of course, chose my team at the last second, and chose to root for the 49ers because they are a California team.  Gotta keep that state spirit up!

After a long, long, LONG game (mostly due to an unforeseen power outage), the Ravens beat the 49ers by (I believe) three points.  I was a bit sad, because this was the first time I've ever supported a team.  Shocked by the duplicity that fate threw me this year, I thought goodness!  The one year I pick a team!  The one that lost!  How counterfactual!

But it was a good experience.  I ate junk food (so it was more like a Saturday night anyway), screamed with joy, and screamed of sorrow.  That is factual.
