2012 was full of changes... more so than other years. I graduated high school and left my small, safe SoCal home for Syracuse University. Like most years, 2012 had its highs and lows: a best friend of mine ran away (and later came home), I strove to make as many memories as possible with my old high school friends, and I've met the nicest people since coming to college.
To commemorate the start of a new year, I decided to start (and will hopefully complete) a 365 day challenge that involves taking a picture every day, and writing a small blurb about why I took the picture I did and what it means to me. I've decided to start off the year with the first thing I saw when I woke up this morning.
Yes, it is a window. But not my window. Last night was the first New Year I spent with friends rather than sitting around at home watching television marathons or spending time with family. Maybe I've reached a point in my life where I consider friends as part of my family. <- Thank you, college.
But this window represents more than simply personal experience. It's a new window; 2013 will offer a different perspective than 2012 did. And just as 2012 had its good and bad days I'm sure 2013 will be no different with the contrast of light and dark in the shades. ...Or maybe I overanalyze everything. :)
A toast to another year,
Ashley
