Color Me Mine

It's been a long while since I've done anything artistic... so when I planned a hang out with some old high school buddies, I took dragged them to Color Me Mine, a shop where you paint ceramic figures and have them glazed and fired. It should not surprise me that I had the most fun out of my group of friends, but we did spend quality time together. :P

Why did I choose this Snowman figurine? Other than the 15% discount on Holiday items, I thought this cute Snowman sums up my first experience living in New York perfectly.

I remember during the first snowfall, Jillian excitedly explained how "residential snow" is different than snow one sees on vacation.

It lands in abundance just outside your window. There's no pressure to use your time wisely before dragging yourself home to brown dirt. There's no rush to make snow angels or to host snowball fights or to sled down a hill. You have the time to sit and to observe the drifting snowflakes. You start to notice the tiny details-- the way it floats with the wind to the way it lands in your hair. You realize no one walks outside with an umbrella. You realize they welcome snow and would rather shun the rain.

I love the snow.
